Cat Anatomy Study

Before designing an armature for my cat, I decided to thoroughly study the anatomy of cats. Here is some of my research:

  • Cats are digitrades, which means they walk on their toes

  • They walk with precision because felines almost always place their hind paw in the same position of their fore paw

  • Gait: One side of their body moves at a time

  • Slender, free floating clavicle bones grant them the ability to fit through any place their heads can fit

  • Based on this, the width of the head must equal the max width of the body

I also analyzed a series of cat videos for reference, cat skeletons, and cat walk cycles. Looking at cute cats for hours is a real chore. Ha, just KITTEN! I give you permission to be jealous that I just got to look at cat videos and officially count it as being productive. :)
