Wire Armature Test: Human

Today I experimented with epoxy putty and armature wire to build a human armature! The armature wire was MUCH nicer than plain wire. It's flexible but substantially more durable than regular wire. I used two pieces of wire and wrapped them with a third wire so that the armature wire wouldn't break as easily from wear and tear. The epoxy was a little messy to mix, but once it dried it was incredibly solid. I used the epoxy putty on areas of the armature that didn't need to move, leaving spaces for the joints to be moved by wire. To make him easier to animate for tests, I wrapped him with some furry yarn.

I conducted a few animation tests with this armature and found him easy to animate with. The motion was fluid, however I would prefer something that allows for more definition of the body parts. Perhaps I should I try building him bigger? The experiment continues!
